Worth upgrading my 22" LCD?

I have a BenQ FP222W 22" (from 2007) monitor and was thinking of upgrading, and was wondering if there is currently anything out there that would provide a significant improvement in picture and color quality. (mostly gaming)

The BenQ's blacks aren't quite as dark as I would like them to be, and I was looking for a 1920x1080 resolution for less aliasing in games, without having to use AA.

I plan on holding on to the BenQ, a dual monitor setup would help a lot in my DAW.

Here are the specs for my current BenQ:

Display type 22.0”, active, TFT
Viewable diagonal 558.68 mm
Native (maximum) resolution 1,680 x 1,050
Colors 16.7 million
Contrast / Brightness 700:1 / 300 cd/m2
Response time 5 ms
Viewing angle (left/right, up/down) 170, 160 (CR>10)

Would like to stay under $250, but considering going higher if its worth it.

I think you should wait another few years for LEDs to completely take over and for them to fall in price. LCD monitors have really only taken a single step above what you have now. (They went from 22" to 23-24" and run 1920x1080 natively as opposed to 1680x1050)

With regard to color quality and black reproduction, I don't think you'll see much improvement over the monitor you have right now. Wait for others to respond, though. This is just my 2 cents.

But if you want to spend the money, grab an 80GB Intel X-25M SSD instead.
