Worth upgrading from 2600k?

Hi folks

I'm currently on a P67 chipset and a 2600k CPU, 8GB DDR3 and a GTX980. SSDs too. Is it worth upgrading to the latest gen? I was looking at getting a 2011 socket and a Xeon CPU (4-core or so) to get ECC support.

IT would be a workstation/gaming platform.

Thanks

I can run ECC in my this old one and I do not.

It's more for stability, not performance.

And even then over redundant for most people.

The i7 2600K is still a respectably fast chip. Since you have a P67 motherboard, you can overclock it to well over 4 GHz on a cheap cooler like the Zalman CNPS10X. At that point, it's competitive with a stock-clocked Haswell i7.
