Worth the upgrade?

Hey all, yes another "should I wait a little longer?" thread =\

I've grown bored of my 2 year old Sapphire 7950 (not theboost edition)
It has a small factory OC, 900mhz core. The thing won't run stable much past 920mhz, so I've found myself bored with it.

Considering a 780 ti to scratch my upgrade itch. I usually keep a card for about two years. I would like to experience a huge upgrade from my 7950. I game at 1080p. A lot of FPS&RTS games.

Should I dump the bucket of dollars towards the 780ti or wait and see how the rumored 880 turns out?

Thanks!
p.s Not interested in dual card solutions at all. :awe:

Did you try power limit +20? A 7950 that doesn't even hit 1000mhz stable is relatively rare

What is your CPU and PSU? Do you care about AMD vs NVIDIA?

Corsair 750watt.

i7 4770k @ 4.2

I haven't played with the voltage much on my card, figured a tiny core OC less than 50mhz wouldn't need a voltage tweak?

I usually don't care about AMD vs Nvidia. I go back and forth depending who offers the best card at the time of purchase. Long history of changing sides =)

From what I've seen in benchmarks the 780ti is generally "the best." Which is why I'm considering it over a 290x

Yea I guess. grrr. See what both camps have out this fall I suppose.
Would be cool to upgrade by about 1200+ shaders or so. Not sure how demanding Star Citizen will end up being, hopefully my 7950 will be decent there.

Yes, please wait. Your card is still kick-ass. Let's see what Maxwell and AMD's next gen GPUs have to offer.
