Worth The Upgrade?

Hello, just recently "upgraded" to a Amd 64 3700+, 1 gig of corsair ram with a mobo with AGP. I'm currently running a 6600GT with 128 megs of ram. Would it be worth it to upgrade (AGP only)? If so, what would be the best bang for my buck?

no mate, it will not be worth at all to upgrade!

the best in class of agp video cards is about five times less powerful with the current generation cards.

Not only will you waste money on it, but when soon every1 will switch to vista! you will havet to upgrade again!

if you want to save up to get a good card later, i guess go ahead and buy the agp, but dont spend more than $50 on it. Save up and buy the current gen PCIE cards as the prices keep going down for cards as new next gen PCIE cards come out.

is the 3700+ s939? If so I'd just get a pci-e mobo (I recommend asrock duel sata2) or I've seen some SLI boards going on the FS forum for under 70 bucks.

If it's s754, I would consider going conroe.. if that's out of your budget, I've seen s754 pci-e boards on ebay, I think t-force or something like that, check that out.

lemme know man.

Whether you're s754 or s939, you can get a pci-e motherboard and a faster pci-e video card for little more than the premium you'll be paying for a faster agp video card. Particularly if you are looking at the fastest current US agp card, the 7800GS. If you can't go that route, look for the best deal you can find on a Leadtek 7600GT, an X800XT, or an X850pro.

1)It is better to get PCI E.

2)However even if you want to stay with AGP, all it could be is that you will get a more expensive card which is not as powerful. Current gen cards are surely not 5 times faster, but surely 2-3times faster than the fastest AGP cards.

3)If you want to stick to AGP, get a 6800Ultra or 7600GT or 7800GS, these are the best you can get. X850XT will also be about as powerful as the 6800Ultra but doesn't have SM3.0 and HDR. Also, you might want to consider upgrading your RAM as well.

go on newegg and search Jetway SLI. I had the asrock dual and this jetway, the jetway is a very good overclocker. ditch the agp card and mobo..
