Not ALWAYS... only certain programs can take advantage of Hyper Threading. More will in the future now that Intel has built it into all their processor though. Would be nice to be able to run SETI@Home constantly while I play games though =)
You'll see more speed with the 800 Mhz bus... but do you really need 420 frames per second in Quake 3 instead of 400 even? That's really the only thing it'll help... if you have a game running only 40 frames per second, chances are today's hardware can't handle it... and it's not limited by your CPU. Hold off on all major upgrades until the next generation of processors and video cards come out... that's the best advice I can give people unless you're looking for a bargain, in which case, right now is one of the best times to bargain hunt... stores will be trying to get rid of their existing stock... people will be trying to sell their used hardware so they can afford the new hardware... and stuff that's current right now will be outdated very soon, which will knock the price down quite a bit.If you're at 3ghz now, going to a p4c is really mostly going to buy you bragging rights.

Wouldn't SETI still take up 100% of the CPU power as that is what it was designed to do. Or could you have HT have one part run SETI and one part run games. I never got that about HT.
