Worth the time to RMA?

Most of you probably remember my problem with the sound during POST, but not in windows thread about two weeks back.

Currently using a SB audigy 2, I would however prefer to put this in a HTPC.

The question is would it be worth the time (Money is obvious SB costs almost as much as the mobo 😱 ) to RMA a perfectly working (except the sound) and stable A7N8X rev. 2 motherboard back to newegg just to get a motherboard with sound working.

Two things are really all that keeping me from doing it.

- The uncertainty of getting another rev. 2 board (maybe they've run out of the 1.0x at the warehouse by now.) Recent orderers, which rev have you received?

- The (guessing a week?) downtime to disassemble, pack, ship, pack, and return a motherboard for my main gaming rig. I've got other computers so withdrawl isn't such an issue.

Is the SoundStorm really worth a week of downtime? (now that I re-read the question, a week off for a long time of a working componet seems like a stupid question.

Tech support from Asus = no help. Several other forums including you guys, amdmb, and various other places didn't turn up much help. Had a 40 reply thread on amdmb though 😀 .

Anyway, second opinions welcome.

why would you care about the onboard sound when u have an audigy 2?

btw, asus tech support completely sucks. that is the only reason why i always pick abit over them

Diiiitttto! Not to mention, Newegg will cross-ship mobos, no? Just order a new one, and when you get it, send yours back. Problem solved, no downtime.

And if its not a rev 2 (or whatever u wanted) u can send them back the board they sent u! It's a win win situation!
