Worth returning my NEC 20WMGX2 over a dead pixel?

I have one dead pixel on my screen. I did pay around $600 for the monitor which is why it kinda bugs me. Is it worth exchanging it at pagecomputer.com for another one?

I would like to get some feedback on whether some people can deal with dead pixels or not.

Thank you.

Lets not forget there is a difference between a dead pixel and a stuck pixel, if the pixel is stuck as in displays red, green etc then there is a massage technique that can POSSIBLY fix it. I used that one mine and it worked fine, do a search on fixing stuck pixels to see how its done. If the pixel is dead and you have decent dead pixel policy then yes I would repalce it, you are paying for a piece of hardware to be exceptable and IMHO dead pixels are not.

It sucks, but I would probably just live with it. The replacement could be worse in another aspect like backlight bleeding. My 17" has a couple, and I hardly ever notice them in use. What color is the dead pixel on a black background (or is the dead pixel black?)

I believe my LCD has a dead pixel or two.. maybe they were stuck.. cuz I dont notice them anymore.
If you dont see it glancing around the screen while in Windows.. pretty tough to justify buying a whole new LCD to fix something like this.

If you have to focus or put your face an inch away from the screen to see it.. I wouldnt torment your existence caring too much about it.

Depends where it is.

In the center of the display?

Yes, i'd exchange it.

On the outsides? Nah.

yea, i just ordered another one from newegg. Figured id scope that one out and possibly sell the other one on ebay or just return it and take a hit with the restocking fee.

If the new one is bad, eh, oh well, I will just deal with it.

I do understand that monitors would cost more if each one was individually checked at the manufacturer for dead pixels. Which is why I thought for a price of roughly $600 they would be pretty much flawless.

Oh well, Ill see how the new one goes.

I would send it back to NEC for sure. It's not like it's a $350 Samsung. It's SIX HUNDRED dollars! For that price it should have no dead pixels. Just make sure you can't "rub" the pixel back to life first. I've thought about getting the NEC, but I've decided to hold off awhile.

Glad you didn't get burned by Pagecomputer. Read some bad things on resellerratings on those guys.

I actually happened to buy from pagecomputers and got great service...I may have been lucky, though. Also, I talked to them on the phone so that may have helped

Dead pixels on an LCD are COMPLETLY unacceptable, even one, especially when you pay over half a G for it. It's like buying a brand new car with a dent in it and still being expected to pay full price. Who would do that?
Alot of these places don't let you return/exchange LCD's unless they have over EIGHT. Whoever came up with this rediculous scamming should be shot as it's obvious that whoever thought this up is only interested in thier own pockets, and doesn't give a rat's azz about the comsumer who they conviently forget keep them in business.
What a bunch of BS

Yes, they shipped my product promptly and I was really happy with their service.

What did you inquire about when you talked to them on the phone?

You guys are right though, dead pixels are kinda unacceptable. I figured I would have this monitor for 2-3 years, I will keep exchanging them unitll I get a flawless one.

It is one thing if i was paying 200 bucks, but for 600, i want perfect
