Hey all!
Dunno whether to put this here, Laptops/SFF or Tech Support, but here goes...

I have an "old" (5 or 6 years ord) HP Pavilion ZT1100 series (either 1130 or 1180, depending on the paperwork you look at, but anyway), and the AC adapter plug port (this) is worn out. I can get it on Ebay for about $5 total (part plus postage), but I'm wondering if it'd be worth it, since the old part has to be unsoldered from the MoBo and the new part subsequently resoldered.

So, What would my best bet be - get the part and resolder everything, get the part and just ebay everything as-is (the laptop itself works great, it's just a matter of needing the new port), or just skip the part altogether (ebay the laptop and use the proceeds towards the purchase of a new system) - any input would be great! Thanks a million or two!

It's the right decision as long as you can do the soldering. With the laptop in perfect working order, ebaying it will give you more selling power. Most obviously more than $5.00!

Which, I guess, is the next question...

Once I get everything working on it again, would I be wise to ebay it or just keep it? My plan is using it mostly for my business (bringing it with on service calls for my custom computer store - create their invoices and print them right away), though I'm also using it as a "replacement" for my desktop at times (mostly just to get online). I know more memory would be a huge plus (only 256 Megs), as well as a bigger hard drive (anything is better than the 20 gigs I have now). Thing is, would the processor be strong enough for multitasking? (It's a 1.13 Gig Celeron, and the most I ever ran on it before was Flight Sim 2002)

And any ideas what to replace it with? Only "requirements" are that it NOT be a Dell or another HP.
