Just a poll basicly. was thinking of upgrading my palmino 1800 to a thoroughbred 2400. Which is the highest my mobo can handle. I dont want to buy a new mobo till the pci express stuff hits really and just build a whole new rig. So my question is would I see a big enough boost?

I just did the same thing for my wife's comp. You won't see much of a boost, but if the price is right then it is worth it. See if you can find one in the FS/FT forums.

You won't see a great boost. I think maybe the system would be a little more responsive, but I suggest to save your money for an Athlon 64 3200+/3400+ system.

I don't think it's worth it, but then again I don't change the CPU unless I change the motherboard with it, generally, unless something goes really wrong.

I think it would be worth it if your mobo and system is capable of overclocking and you are willing as well. Checkout EBay, Pally auction here, the Pally has quite the resale value. Upon sale of your Pally, you will have most of the funds you need for a TBredB or Barton. I would expect you to get at least 2.2mhz on any mobile, or about 50% more power than a 1.53mhz 1800+.

The biggest difference would occur if you used a 200mhz FSB vs teh 133mhz FSB of the palamino. Also using 3200 ram of course. Going from 133 to 166 doesnt quite yield a noticeable increase.
