Worth it to upgrade?

I see that the AthlonXp 1800+ is now $92 on pricewatch. IS it worth it to upgrade my Athlon Thunderbird 1.4 (overclocked to 1.57) to a 1800+?

I figure that with a multiplyer of 11.5 and FSB of 145 I'll be looking at 1.66ghz which will be a good jump. I currently have a Soyo dragon+ KT266A motherboard running 145FSB.

Worth it? Comments?

I really don't think it is worth it.

I really don't even see the point of overclocking a 1.4ghz.

heh well, if you play morrowind you'd see...1024x768 no AA and everything on low I barely get 40fps ;-P
even though in that game it's really not a big deal to have high FPS.

Well, thanks though..

Oh and on a side note...does the onboard LAN of the Soyo Dragon+ limit my overclock any and would it be worth it to pickup a cheap $20 ethernet card to replace the onboard stuff?

I guess I'm one of those non gamers that can't relate to the need for frame speed. The last game I played was probably UO and that only really required a 200mhz with a voodoo 2000, pci! I still play tribes on occasion, Tribes the original that is... which shows you the extent of my need for knowledge on the gaming rig issue.

That integrated nic shouldn't hinder your ability to OC... I've always been partial to the linksys cards but if you have onboard lan you might as well utilize it.

If I were you I'd save that money and wait for some of the newer stuff to come out. I hear there are supposed to be some pretty interesting things.

I would say no. Remember that the XP 1800+ isn't really 1800MHz, it's just a performance rating. I think it's really something like 1.53GHz.
