Hey everybody,
I was thinking about getting a dedicated video card for my pc. I don't really do alot of gaming(a little here and there),mostly videos, music, movies. I have 1024ram installed, but the integrated graphics is taking 64mb leaving me with 960 instead. I want to get that memory back. What are your recommendations? I would like to keep it around 200.00. I have been looking at the 6600gt and the 6800gs,but am wondering if maybe that would be more than I need. Thanks
a little system info if it helps>>> amd 64 3200+
1024ram
epower puma II 450w ps

what is a little gaming here and there? 10 minutes of ut2007 is more demanding on a video card than 15 hours of solitare.

How about an All-in-Wonder card from ATI? That would give your gaming a little more umph and also allow you to do more with your videos, music, and movies... like capture video, watch TV on your PC and use your PC as a DVR, etc.

I did look at the 9600xt at one time? and the 9800 pro. I plan on getting a new pc with pcie in the near future, but want to get what I can out of this one first.

which one, Splinter Cell Chaos Theory will utterly rape a 6600gt and at higher resolutions, the 6800gs wont be all too happy. On the other hand, if you play original, the 6600gt will be fine.

If you want to go PCI Express soon, something like this would be adequate for your gaming and shouldn't break the bank.
