Worth it to upgrade from a GTX 1070 FTW to a GTX 1070Ti?

I can do a step up for just shipping and handling and it would be a no brainer except..

my 1070 has iCX and runs cooler while the 1070ti would be a gamble and not have as good power delivery system.

Do you think its worth upgrading for 5-7% more performance?

as a general rule in life, an upgrade which gives you less than x2 performance isn't worth it. wait for Volta/Ampere/Navi/Whatever.

Only upgrade I would consider at this time would be to 1080 Ti. I did an upgrade from 1070 to 1080Ti, but going to anything else wouldn't be worth it IMO.

Yes from GTX1070 to 1080TI its huge upgrade.More performance gain than from GTX970 to GTX1070.
1070 to 1080TI is close to 70% performance gain.
970 to 1070 was only around 50-55% gain.
I tested it myself with 20+ games.

If you were going to sell yours to buy a 1070 Ti then i'd say it wouldn't be worth it.

BUT, since you only have to pay shipping to get the upgrade, i would definitely do it. Like UsandThem said, it will at the very least make it more valuable to sell it before Volta arrives and you get some added performance.

You should 100% do it. There is a little bit of downtime between the shipping, but you said that is all the cost you take and its a hassle for several days, but that's it. After that you have a better graphic card which performs in many titles 15% faster, in fact when overclocked most 1070ti match the 1080 FE. That is a big deal since the 1080 FE is on average 25% faster than reference 1070, obviously custom cards are faster and cooler so its different, but in essence you are seeing a potentially 1080 like performance if you overclock.

The biggest downside is that the 1070ti does indeed use as much power as the 1080, when overclocking more than the 1080. But apart from that there is no downside!

The is stepping up, not upgrading and the only cost he said would have is the shipping, which is 100% worth it. The 1070ti is up to 15% faster than the 1070 in many games, overclocked it matches 1080FE. So essentially almost 25% performance improvement(when OC'ed) for shipping costs.

Unless they’re shipping to you at the North Pole it’s worth it. The performance bump may only be small, but they resale value will be a lot better.

I was going to say no until I read that the only thing he has to pay is S&H. unless that charge is outlandish, might as well.

^ Agreed, may as well do it if it is near free.
