Worth it to go to "premium package" high speed internet

My ISP offers a 8mbps speed offering for 70 dollars. I pay 35 for 5 mbps. I live very close to there building so I get pretty fast speeds already. My question is: is it worth the jump.
I do play online games but i mean what are the advantages...getting in the room faster.
My ping is usually pretty good..hangs around 30 in counter strike. What will I see.
Thanks

~640kb/s to 1mb/s would be pretty leet. pings will be the same though. i wouldn't do it because 75% of the time the server your downloading from can't pump 640k to you anyway.

Wow, that seems like a lot for only 3mbps increase in speed. I get 8mbps for only 45/month and the cable company is upgrading it to 15 within the next few months for free (probably b/c of competition from Verizon's FiOS).

Wow. All this talk of cable internet reminds me how said I will be when I leave college. It is nice having multiple OC3's. Real world download speeds max at around 25mb/s for me.
Before I cam here we had comcast cable internet. They raised the speed over time. Started at 3, moved to 5, now at 7 or 8. To be honest, the jump is not very noticeable unless you are downloading very large files. With the 25mb connection I have now, the only thing I can notice besides much, much, much, much faster downloads is that my pings are about half of what they are on cable. For normal use no difference can be told. Websites just don't have that much data they need to transfer. Also a lot of the time when I download, the server has less bandwidth than me, which happens when I am downloading at less than 2 megabytes per second.

So unless you want to always download movies off of limewire or whatever, there isn't much point to going to 8mb from 5mb.
