I probably wouldn't overclock for a while, especially since I dont have the money for anything more expensive than value RAM. it would probably be between a socket 754 2800+ and a 939 3000+.

also- would i see any significant performance upgrade in windows (coming from a 2400+)? would i notice enough of a gaming performance upgrade from the faster processor to make it worthwhile? ill be looking to upgrade for half life 2, hopefully with a 6600gt, ive got a 5200ultra right now.

dual channel is amazing for overclocking.. you can run a divider without a performance hit, which alogn with a 90nm cpu lets you get to 2600mhz on 1.6v stable. also because it doesnt matter that you run with a divider, because a64s dont get hurt, you can set the ram timings to 2 2 2 5 on value ram. :D
