I got my nephew a 37 inch 1080P LCD for Xmas. He has one of the original Xbox 360's without the HDMI out. Would it be worth it to go with a new Xbox 360 with HDMI out? Is it that noticeable in quality over component video? And what model of new Xbox comes with that new motherboard jasper I think its called...

Thanks

Not worth it IMO - it does look better but at least to me, no way worth spending the money and time.

Strange, but although the resolution is still the same, hdmi looks better to me. Not sure why. Less jagged and blurry for some reason.

I had a non-HDMI Xbox 360 and I sold it to a friend when the Jaspers came out. Honestly I can't tell the difference between Component and HDMI, you'll be fine.

While quality might not be a noticable difference, some TVs don't accept 1080p over component. HDMI out also allows you to watch movies downloaded from XBL in 1080p otherwise you cannot, it also allows upscaled DVDs. It also offers up a few more options in the output settings to play with that might make some difference.

Only people with your same TV that upgraded to HDMI can really answer this.

My TV did not display a very good image over component when compared to HDMI. HDMI was much sharper in my case, but this will not be true for all TVs and infact component may actually provider a better picture than HDMI.. It all depends on the TV.

The only plus we can guarantee you is that you will have 1 less cable to run...

Component will never display better than HDMI on a TV that has both. It will either be the same, or the TV won't be able to do 1080p. The fact that your TV didn't display a very nice picture over component vs HDMI doesn't mean that it can be reversed for other sets.

Did not see a difference on my 50inch Plasma FOR GAMING.... so kept components hooked up to keep a HDMI open for something else.

I don't use my 360 for DVD's as my PC does a better job in Power DVD. If you use DVD's in your 360 I'd go HDMI.
