Worth it corsair to seasonic?

Is it even worth it to upgrade my 2 year old corsair 620HX PSU for a seasonic 650 X Gold series psu? I've seen that it is alot more efficient then mine and much more quiet. And its 100% modular. But is it worth it....

That's going to depend on you.

Do you have the spare $?
Is there a "need"?
Is your current one failing or dying?
If any of those are "yes" then you might want to. Efficiency isn't one of them though as the HX620 isn't an "inefficient" psu either. Might not be 80+ gold level, but it's not a slacker either.

No. My last two PSUs were Seasonic. However, Corsair is darn good and there is no reason to upgrade a two-year old power supply that is not failing. You'll never recover your cost for increases in efficiency and your machine will not be more reliable. Wait until it starts to fail or your next build.

The Corsair he has is Seasonic as well.

Spend the $140 on games instead

Yup. The first HX models were all Seasonic units that were re-badged and perhaps had some Corsair modifications to it. Main PSU parts though are Seasonic.

Newer Corsairs are not Seasonic units.

The AX series is (except the 1200W)...but indeed, the newer HX are not Seasonic.

Worth it? Well, not really...unless maybe your pc is on 24/7. And you really like fully modular cables. And a fan that doesn't spin up till 200W. Selling HX620 should bring in a decent chunk of the upgrade costs.

I say stick with the HX620. It isn't loud so I doubt the other would be that much quieter, and the gain in efficiency wouldn't offset the cost of the upgrade for years.

You mean your Seasonic?

AFAIK the HX650 is a Seasonic.

Indeed, that's a Seasonic model as well. I should've said not all HX models are made by Seasonic anymore.

HX450: Seasonic
HX520: Seasonic
HX620: Seasonic
HX650: Seasonic
HX750: CWT
HX850: CWT
HX1000: CWT

No the HX650 is still Seasonic....the TX650 is the PSH II

THe HX750 and HX850 are DSG

you are thinking of the TX650, TX750 and TX850

I just opened my case and put my ear to it while gaming. And its definitely coming from the PSU. I tried a different outlet and it does the same thing. This PSU is about 3 years old. How long is corsair's warranty? I need a new PSU that's for sure...

Their has been a nice buzzing noise coming from my system the last few months, and I chalked it up to the video card. Well I have a new one now, a xfx 6950. And it does the exact same buzzing noise when doing anything 3d. So I opened the case to listen and low and behold it was coming from the PSU. Its very annoying and loud. How long does a replacement unit from corsair usually take? This PSU is about 3 years old maybe a bit more..

Not sure, never had to RMA anything with them.

But, I've had video card 3D loading cause buzzing over multiple PSUs before. My HX620 buzzes a little bit, but so did the Antec PSU before it, and with 2 different video cards, 3 different motherboards, 4 different CPUs, 4 different RAM kits...

Same thing with my HX620. RMA'd no problem and they sent me the HX650. They cross-ship but you have to put a deposit down (whatever the current retail price of the 650 is).

Do you have to have the original box too? I don't have that. Also what about the cables for it? When you RMA I mean. I'll just ship it without cross ship...
