Worth it? 6800gt-sli -> 7600gt or 7950gt?

Contemplating an upgrade to get a little better gaming performance on my current rig. I have an fx55/a8n-sli premium with a pair of evga 6800gt's. I get in the low 4000's in 3dmark06... nearly 10k in 3dmark05. I was pretty much middle of the pack for similar systems with the 7950/fx55 but there were only 5 other comparables so it's not statistically valid.

I picked up a passive 7950gt (XFX extreme) for a home theater system I'm putting together (wanted something I might do mild gaming on and I got a good deal on this).

I put it my rig to see how it did (don't have all the HTPC parts yet) and was a bit disappointed in the performance... only ~4600 3dmark06.

Bottom line is, what are folks experiences with the 7600gt and 7950gt? I had assumed the next generation of graphics cards would have given me more significant gains.

Do folks think moving from a pair of 6800gt's to a single 7600gt or 7950gt really ought to be an "upgrade"? (I have not spent much time tuning yet).

A single 7600gt is only slightly faster than a single 6800gt, so going 6800gt SLI -> single 7600gt is definitely a downgrade. A single 7950gt will be faster than 6800gt SLI, but not by much.
