Worth hanging on to my T-Mobile PAYG plan?

I have a legacy T-Mobile PAYG plan called "pay by the Day" which I first got years ago since I visited the US every year for work and that worked well for me.

I can get unlimited calling for $1 a day, and unlimited data for $1 (2G) or $2 (3G) per day. The plan is no longer offered to new users, but existing users seem to be able to hang on to it.

Question: does it make sense to keep it? (I need to recharge at least $10 every 90 days to keep the plan active), or are there better options out there for someone who visits once a year?

Thanks for any and all tips.

What's the real cost to you per month? Happy with 3G speeds? This sounds like a temp thing for when you're in the US so why change if it works? Unless you're in the US permanently now?

Yeah if you have an unlocked phone then something like Freedompop or Ring+ may be best since these two usually offer a pay once and use approach. Keep an eye on Slickdeals for promo deals.

Or maybe something like Ting (bare minimal $6 per Month though unless you don't mind getting a different number each time)....

Tracfones can be really cheap too.

You can always swap around plans and a get a US G-Voice # so your number remains the same (Google Voice App will mask Caller ID when placing calls) and maybe use with Hangouts over Wifi/Data and such.... Google Voice allows Calling and Texts over an existing Talk or Text plan or you can do this through Wifi /Data with Hangouts even on Tablets and Desktops too....

Hope this helps.....
