Worth going from the Shure e2c to the e3c?

Just curious. I love my e2c's, but they aren't as comfortable as I'd like, and I heard that the e3c's are much more comfortable. Does it sound significantly better?

You might need a headphone amp for EC3s to sound good. They have twice the impedance of the E2Cs.

Hmm...they're quite fugly . How's the durability of the cable? My e2c cable already ripped after just 6 months. Are they thicker then the Shure thickness? And do they just come with foam inserts?

Are there any at this lower end price range that are molded to the person's own ear? Those are probably the best in terms of comfort although I only know of them being close to $1k

I wish . The Shure e5c's can be molded, but those are $500, and the UltimateEars are $1K .

Shure cables are pretty freaking thick... how did you rip it?

They come with the comply tips and the triflanges which are included for free... I think if you look to the right... and a free airlinea adapter!!

Oh cool . I think I may grab them. Any reviews on them online? I couldn't seem to find any through Google. Maybe I'm just being a moron right now.

I have no idea how it ripped. It was wrapped around my iPod in my pocket one day, and I took it out, and the area that goes behind the ear ripped, so I patched it up with electrical tape. One day though, it's gonna split in two.

enough quoting... but check head-fi.org if you want alot of info on it... they're generally regarded higher than the e3cs and cheaper. I haven't heard any reports of fragile cabling... although if you can rip Shure's cables without ease, maybe you should look into steel cables
You can always ask for opinions from the people at earphonesolutions, they have excellent customer service. Also look into getting foam tips as well if you can

Thanks for the links. If I'm gonna purchase, I think I'm going to go with the UM1's at this point. They actually can be custom molded for $100 plus the cost of molding, so in the future I have that option as well.
