The 850 Mhz T-bird is a measly $105.

I want to go past a Gig hopefully 1.1 but what kind of sucess are people having?

Also where should I order the chip from?

It is hit or miss. A lot of people with 850mhz thunderbirds never see 1 gig. Some do however make it. If you really want a gig or more you should get a 1 gig chip. There is a good chance you will get one that is copper. Many copper chips do 1.1 easy. Good luck

Wow, a 8500mhz for only $100 count me in!

Honestly, though, my 600 Duron made 1000, but my 800 tbird didn't. (in fact 850 was it's max-it's back at the store.)

With conventional cooling, an 8.5 ghz processor, should nicely melt through the motherboard, case and the floor. :D

Check pricewatch :)

I'd check resellerratings.com before I would buy though.

Anyone remember that page where people posted there overclocking sucess?

Are all 800Mhz and above Tbirds?
Does Tbird mean that there is 384K cache in the prossesor?

Thanks guys:)

Could we resist that one..I think not. :D

Athlon classics go up to 1000mhz and they are all slot A
Athlon Thunderbirds are 700mhz up and are socket A (OEM slot A versions around up to 800mhz)

Thunderbirds do indeed have a combined cache of 384kb, the Duron has half this @ 192kb.

10x TheCorm,
And may I ask another one?
I am looking all over to buy Swiftech's MC370-0A.
Couldn't find it on pricewatch/pricegrabber/ibuyer.net.
Any clue?

That seems like a good Fan.

I did a web search and could not find somewhere that sold it though.

Where are you based nivw?, I haven't heard of that make of processor on the uk sites I look around.
