Worth doing XPEL/SunTek on an 86k mile car?

I'm looking at a car that pending PPI I am likely going to buy. It's a very well maintained 86k mile car that happens to be black. It has had a recent paint correction done so the paint is in exceptional shape for the mileage.

I'm planning to daily drive this car so it's going to see snow, salt, and rocks during the winter. Is a full car XPEL/SunTek install crazy? I love the idea of just being able to park it in the sun and let the inevitable marks fade out.

I've seen lots of people say they wish they'd done it when it was new, is doing it this late pointless? It's not cheap (probably pushing 10% of what I'm paying for the car) but this is a car I can see myself keeping for a long time.

I told JLee you guys are a bad influence on each other. So many turbos, so little space.

Regarding the topic at hand, IMO it would also depend on the paint quality history for those cars. I've got a 15 year old Lexus that sits in the AZ sun all day and still looks fantastic. But my old Eclipse looked like crap after a year. Looking at XPEL's precuts for the cars you're looking at, prices for the "critical" areas don't look quite as bad.

My first instinct is hell yes because it's such an awesome car. The rational side of my brain says take it to a pro paint shop and have them tell you if the clear coat is in good shape/thick enough. Sometimes the paint "correction" process speeds the overall degradation of the clear coat. Sure does look pretty for a little while though....

If you think you'll keep it around for a while, definitely, and you don't have to worry about the finish as much if you're going to DD it. Also helps with the resale value when you decide to pass it on.
