Hi, currently i am using an Antec Neopower 480W PSU in an Antec P180 w/:

Asus A8N SLI Deluxe
AMD Athlon X2 3800+ currently running @ stock but I will be overclocking it
1 GB 2x512 Kingston HyperX DDR400 running @ stock and will overclock it if/when I do my CPU (may be changing to 2x1GB OCZ EB Platinum DDR500)
1 x 36 GB WD Raptor
1 x 320GB Seagate SATA2 Barracuda 7200.10
ATI x1900xt w/ Zalman vf900 680/780
Scythe Ninja w/ SilenX 120mm 72cfm 14dBa
Plextor 716SA
1 x Panasonic Floppy
Logitech G7
Kensington low profile keyboard
Dell 2407WFP
BenQ 19" FP931-D

I used this website to check the PSU requirements and it comes a little close and even over in some cases when adjusting the capacitor aging and surge compensation. I have had most of this system for over a year now (about 18months) and I do a lot of DVD burning and did a fair amount of gaming when I initially got it.

I am wondering if I should change my PSU for one with a high wattage. I would rather be safe than sorry in the respect to potentially screwing up my system. I may want to put an additional HD soon, a new soundcard (onboard sound kind of sucks) and change to a 74 GB raptor (although I'm sure that makes no diff to the power req's). I am currently eyeing the Corsair 620W Modular PSU. Any input? Any comments on my system and upgrades are greatly appreciated.

TIA

No, the wattage is fine, i'm not a fan of the antec lines for the most part and the NeoPower is one of the ones i don't like but that'd be a problem with the brand not the power.

whats wrong with the neo 500 power? im using on on a conroe E6400 and its been doing its job fine. it has 17A across 3 rails which makes it a fairly decient psu.

Anyhow unless u can grab those on sale, there definitely not worth it. The price is a bit too expensive, and you could get a FSP group PSU for cheaper. But the neo power is modular! :D

lastly no u dont need a new psu. Unless u intend on dropping the xfire card for your 1900xt u should be fine. Back when i was running my X2, i had a Watt View check out the power reqs for my system and with 2 7800GT's in sli and 4 hard drives 2 opticals, the power spiked no higher then 380W. However the amount of power your PSU pumps is highly dependent on what temperature your PSU is running at also.

Thanks for the input guys, umm my case runs at about 38 deg, but it should be lower after i do my fan mods tonight. One thing I am not thrilled about is the efficiency (ranges from 60% to about 77%) Barring a spree of comments that say otherwise, I am going to stick with the PSU for the next 6-10 months and use my current funds towards the OCZ memory and a soundcard.

The Seasonic made NeoHE and Truepower 3 are all very good supplies. OP, your PSU has penty power, and most PSU calculators and unaccurate. How long have you had the PSU?

The PSU is about 18 months old. It gets used a fair amount but not 24/7. Now it is seeing lighter use at about 2-3 hours a day, but soon it will see around 16 hours a day because of school.
