Worst Youtube car repair video..

hahaha excessive force, sounds like the media with cops. Sometimes ill look up how to's to find out if im missing anything, A1 auto has good videos if they have what you're looking for.

Video unavailable. Damn the luck .. and I needed to change the cabin filter in my '05 Malibu too !! 😉

I went looking for the video and ended up finding out some other info, from what I have read, the 05 Malibu has a place for the filter but it seems it was left out. It isn't clear if the filter was an option left out of some trim levels and included on others but at first glance that seems to be the case.

In any event, you can indeed pop out the glove box and put in a filter if you like.

I had a 2003 Focus like this. It was under the cowl, specifically under the black plastic trim that surrounds the windshield wipers.
No filter, but a piece of plastic you remove and discard once a cabin filter was placed in there.

Yea, that's true. It's not a trim-level thing since mine's an LTZ which was the highest trim level offered that year and I have no filter. I was actually thinking of installing one but damm, they are WAY overpriced..

You can get one for maybe $20 tops from RockAuto for a decent one.

Like most air filters you can pay more for carbon and low micron rating or just get the Fram/Champion-labs for around $11 at Autozone. Tried to find the part # but Rock Auto doesn't even seem to carry them then Autozone suggested CAF1872P for '05 Malibu, but Champion's website lookup doesn't list anything, think I'd measure the compartment dimensions to verify size before leaving a store with one.
