I had to watch a couple in psych class & I'd have to agree. In fact, I'd even go so far as to say they should remove the word "TED" from the independent talks, the quality levels can be incredibly sub-par compared to the amazing ones that they have at their full site. It dilutes the brand imo. Some people have watched some crummy TEDx ones & said that they don't see what the big deal is. IT'S BECAUSE THEY'RE NOT WATCHING REAL TED TALKS

Yea, some of the talks are bad, but some have shown me things I've never heard or even thought of before. The rat episode sounds crazy for example, but with real world results that blows modern medicine practices (and costs) out the window.

Don't judge by a few rotten examples.

I have a low expectation of most normal TED talks too.
Often there's too much politics thrown into a science talk, for me to take them serious with respect to either part of the talk.
