Better than the dinosaurs they usually have performing.

McCartney was way better.

Prince was godlike compared to that crap.

The Who certainly sounded aged, but actually knew how to rock.

BEP are an abomination of the musical scene. The only thing they have is production value. might as well have had the cast of Wicked do that halftime show as it would have been the exact same thing.

vid link to chinese olympics ceremony?

YOU DIDN'T WATCH THE OLYMPICS??

It was basically thousands of people all simultaneous choreography doing all sorts of crazy shit in the stadium. I particularly remember the drummers. Very typical of those massive celebrations in Asian countries. Also see some of the videos from those DPRNK rallies.

so imagine the dancers at the superbowl halftime show. now multiply by 20. now tell them if they're not perfect they'll be shot. add a few million dollars to production value.

you've now imagined the chinese opening ceremony.

For the Superbowl you're always going to get geriatric has-beens like The Who or Tom Petty, or acts like BEP and Justin Beiber. And half the people will always hate one or the other. Deal with it.

they would play dogshit from their latest albums. they'd play like a couple snippets from a couple of their real songs, and that's about it. james hetfield's voice is a lot different than it was back in the day, lars's drums sound like he's playing on large rubber balls, and their bassist is a giant tool. i wouldn't wanna see them without jason newstead on stage.

metallica used to be my favorite band ever back in the day. they're just horrible now. even if they played their older songs, they'd still sound awful. they're just not the band they were before and i'm totally fine with that. voices and sounds change over time to where you can't sound the way you used to... no one can be aerosmith.

Oh please. I know it's cool nowadays to rip on Metallica saying only their old stuff is cool. Even the kids who never listened to it say it now b/c it's trendy. If they came out rocking Enter Sandman, people would like it. Everyone knows that song. (Yes St.Anger had really weird drums and like 0 Hammett solos, but their newest album was much better).

Granted, most of their stuff isn't necessarily family friendly superbowl type music though. At least not compared to the people they have been showing the past few years.

this.

maybe I'm mistaken, but I would think they just need to come out, play enter sandman, whip up some pyrotechnics, and have lars on that spinning platform he's always on (or w/e the hell it was on their last tour)

shit man even Kid Rock would put on a WAY better show than BEP (although I'm not sure the strippers would get past the censors hahahaha)

i think after a couple of performances that appealed to whitey's, they decided to give the brutha's some entertainment. I wonder what ethnicity they'll appeal to next year?

I think Lady Gaga would be good for the halftime show wearing a meat dress. After she finishes, she can throw the meat to the linebackers to eat before the second half.

having seen both (and being a fan of neither) I can assure you that this is 100% true.

kid rock played every instrument on stage.

BEP played....the autotune synth?

Taking this and the prior Foo Fighters rec earlier, they just need to get Dave Grohl and 3 or 4 backup musicians to do some FF classics while Grohl runs around and changes instruments mid-song to show off that Grohl > Pretty much everyone.

Fergie singing Sweet Child O Mine....blegh

That said, I can't stand the BEP anyway. They have no redeeming talent and their songs are meaningless and senseless. Some songs have a catchy beat, but that's about it. How they're so popular baffles me.

They actually do have talent, they just don't really go beyond what it takes to make pop music. Will I Am's a good producer who can play multi instruments. Apl De Ap can play a few instruments pretty well too. Much like Lady Gaga they do have the ability to play instruments and make non pop music. Though they sold out for the almighty dollar.

I never thought of Kid Rock. Actually he was part of the show with the wardrobe malfunction. I think bringing him back would be great. Not for his lame "rap" style songs, but more for his souther rock. Despite the fact that he looks like a homeless redneck, the dude actually has some talent and can sing pretty good.

Its possible you've never seen a legitimate live performance to compare it too

I've been to plenty live shows (although i've never been to one of their shows). i just liked it. then again, i'm probably biased because i actually like their work too. i agree that their "singing" wasn't up to snuff, but i enjoyed it anyway.

did you seriously think the first half of their performance had energy? they were complete shit before Usher came on, and half shit after.

Terrible half time show. All they did was stand there and sing their songs while people with LED suits danced around them. The worst part was when that Fergie chick decided to start singing Sweet Child O' Mine. Her voice was like nails on a chalkboard.

How about Kenny G for the 2012 superbowl? He was in one of the superbowl's ad.

Alicia Keys would be good as well.
