I had traveled to Atlanta for an important business meeting about an upcoming project. This was an extremely important project and I was extremely grateful to be a part of this team. I was finally going to be able to have some sort of input for a new tech we would be utilizing. I had arrived in Atlanta with no issues and proceeded to the hotel and went to bed.

I awoke feeling refreshed and ready to tackle the day. I had an uneventful drive to work and was early for the meeting. The morning could not be better! The meeting started around 8:15 am and I was on the roster to give my presentation the next day, relief surged through me, I was actually lucky enough to get to watch everyone else first!

All in all the meeting was good; we went for lunch at the normal time and went to a local sports bar. I decided to be safe and order the hamburger. It was good, no real complaints or praises. During lunch I received a few comments from the upper management and was feeling extremely pleased with myself.

Fast forward to the end of the day, my stomach is in knots, I have to pass on the group dinner. I decide to go to some family I have nearby to rest instead of going to the hotel, due to my declining health. I spend the rest of the night on the toilet either vomiting or defecating water.

Hour upon hour of torment came and went with no end in sight. I could not call in, It was way to important! I decided to make my way to work anyway and suffer through it. I stop and purchase a PowerAde on my way to give my body some sort of hydration. I amazingly was able to will myself to keep it down.

I arrive at work on time and find my supervisor to already be on site. He takes one look at me and says ?My god Narse what did you do? Stay out drinking all night?
I wished this was the case, at least then I could suffer through it. I proceed to tell him that this was not the case and I have been ill all night. He asked if I should go home and I tell him that I would like to at least give my presentation. He agrees and I take seat on a chair in front of his desk and close my eyes.
At this point I realize three mistakes I have made.

1. Coming to work in the first place.
2. Closing my eyes.
3. Drinking the entire PowerAde.

I almost immediately get sick. I pop up from my chair, and make my way towards the restroom. I quickly realize I am not only about to burst from my oral cavity, my rectum is also straining for what it?s worth. I make my way out of the office to the hall and halfway to the restroom before I am faced with an awful choice.
I am going to either keep moving at my current pace and vomit in the hall or sprint and shit on myself.

Well let?s just say I decided to not mess the hall and sprinted to the restroom.
I then cleaned myself up as much as I could and made my way back to the office door to get my boss?s attention. I saw my current state and gladly got my things for me.
To this day he jokes about this, but at least I have a hell of a story to tell.

I once left 2 hours early to go to the Ministry of Transportation office (DMV to you) before they closed...

my main office used to be a 45 minute commute (if traffic is forgiving) and we had an all-staff meeting later on in the afternoon. i started out my day at one of our off-site facilities a few miles from my house and started making the drive down a little bit after lunchtime to get to the meeting. my co-worker calls me and says dont bother coming down, its just a discussion on how each department is doing and he'd take care of it. i say cool, so with the rest of my day free i figure why not take a nice drive on the strand and take in this beautiful day. on the way there i change lanes to get around a slow moving suv and i quickly found out why it was going so slow... 'ponch' poncherello was set up to catch speeders. i get a speeding ticket and a lesson in humility. did traffic school, paid the fee's and fines and thought to myself if only i went to that meeting...

had to go get a couple of Nissan SR20's shipped from Japan a week before race wars. Carried a freaking major premium too.

My worst story is that I left an hour early because I didn't feel like being there for the rest of the day.

I didn't have anything more important outside of work, didn't have any work that needed immediate attention... didn't care.

I wanted to workout and play basketball, so I left a few hours early.

Once I sharted in my drawers, once because I was SUPER hungover (no fucking idea why I came in) and ended up throwing up in my trash can in front of my boss, almost causing her to chuke into hers. :)

I once went to pick up a heavy box and *riiiiiiip*. Pants ripped from waist to waist. Luckily no one saw! Also fortunate that it was a slow day, winter time and I had a long coat. So I just snuck out. Was a cold, breezy walk to the car though.

At a previous job, I saw the same thing happen to one of the managers. Unfortunately for him, he did it in the kitchen in front of a large crowd and he had to go to a meeting. He went back to his office and duct taped/stapled his pants shut and went to the meeting. Talk about a trooper!

Was wearing a shirt that was a little too big for me and the excess fabric got caught on the door jam and ripped the shirt almost in half (I was walking pretty quickly as usual). There was a failed attempt to pin the shirt (not enough pins) then a failed attempt to staple it (they wouldn't stay in), so I just ended up going home.

On a positive note I took the shirt in and they fixed it and slimmed it down so it fit properly. Still have it to this day.

I was sleepy the entire day (from PvPing in WoW till 5:00am)

Got to work around 10:00am

At about 11:30am boss asked me if I was ok

I said that my dog wasn't doing all that good last night (which was true since my pet in WoW, a wolf called "dog", is level 69 and I was pvping against levels 70s and it kept dying becuz I had forgotten to retrain it)

She asked me to take the rest of the day off & get some sleep & take care of my dog

So I went home and got the dog to level 70

:)

Once, my ear was infected and my ear lobe was swollen to twice the normal size. It was so painful that I was almost in tears at work, my boss sent me home.

I don't know if it counts as leaving early, but one time I realized I came into work with sneakers on instead of my work shoes (and such is not allowed). So I ended up leaving to go put my work shoes back on. I'm tempted to keep an extra pair of shoes in my car in case I do something silly like that again. I still to this day don't know how I missed the fact that I have to tie my shoes and my work shoes are lazy-man slip-ons.

Sometimes I leave early to go see movies on Friday (and I have already planned ahead to have the extra time in so I don't have to work the full time).

Adding special sauce to the burgers before they came out of the warming plate I'm guessing.

In college I was working retail a couple weeks before xmas. I also happened to have a bad case of bronchitis at this time. So I was sucking down cough drops like they were required to breathe (because they kinda were). At one point it's getting so bad that I have to run to the bathroom to get away from people and I proceed to cough up blood. I go to the manager and tell her what happened and she tells me to stay a little longer because we're busy. About 20 minutes later I collapse because I'm coughing so hard I can't maintain strength to my knees, I spend about 3 minutes on the floor coughing up blood and phlegm .... she let me go home then.

The next year around the same time at the same job I had an infection called "chest wall pain". It's basically an inflamation of the muscles and tendons in the chest. Now I had a particularly bad case, and you realize that just about every move uses your chest muscles. So I was in extreme pain for a couple days with at least one day driving me to tears it hurt so bad. As a result I took more anti-inflamatory medications than I should have (like 3 times the recommended dose of 3 different meds within a 4 hour period) and appeared to cause minor stomach bleeding. So I'm at work feeling about as bad as I've ever felt and working a cash register (I'm normally customer service, the busiest register in the store this time of year). They put me on the farthest away cash register that almost no on sees or goes to, so I'm thinking I can get through this. I've already told my manager what's going on with me but that I'll try to work. Well a girl comes in about an hour after me who is supposed to take over customer service. She says she's feeling stressed and can't handle it that day, so they take me from my calm place and put me into the middle of hell. The girl comes up and apologizes and is like "I'm sorry I just couldn't handle it today". And I'm looking like I'm in the most pain of my lifetime and I'm wincing with every movement and occasionally tears are running down my cheek from the pain. I look at her with the most angry look I've ever had on my face and say something to her (I don't remember what) that makes her run off in crying (so now I'm in pain and I feel bad). I tell the manager less than an hour later that I simply can't work more that day and they let me go home.

A few years before either of these incidents, I worked at a coffee shop inside a book store. We open at 9:00, me and another guy are supposed to be there at 7:30. I'm late and get there around 7:45, he isn't there yet. So I now have to hurry and get some stuff ready that takes two people, but do it all by myself and with less time. Around 8:15 I run back to the freezer to get some things and am back there 5 minutes or so. During that time the cleanup crew decided to mop the tile floor in front of hte cafe area, but since we're not open doesn't bother putting up a wet floor sign. So I'm walking back with arms loaded, and hit the wet floor I don't know about, and go straight down. I almost catch myself, but not completely. In the process I sprain my right wrist, throw out my back, whiplash my neck, and clock my head on the floor pretty good. The on duty manager won't let me leave until someone else who can run the cafe comes in, which happens at 10:00, 1 hour after we open on what ended up being a busy Saturday morning. Luckily I had the next two days off already.
