This week a Star Trek controversy has been brewing – and it has nothing to do with Alice Eve’s undies. This scandal Star Trek scandal involves the IRS – yes the people that collect your taxes – spending $60,000 on a Star Trek parody video. Congress demanded to see the video and today the IRS released it.

The controversey still hasn’t ended. There is another video with a "Gilligan’s Island" theme which the IRS has not released.

Talk about shooting yourself in the foot.

$60k for that youtube quality video is a perfect example of what's wrong with our government, stupid video aside.

imagine how many other wastes of money there are in govt that we don't know about! This is a sign of a much larger problem.

I'm with you on this. These people must be rooted out of government and burned at the stake. It's a sign of demonic possession and witchcraft.

Two videos were created for the $60,000.
The other was a Gilligan's Island themed training video, that has saved the IRS about $1.5 million in training costs.
In other terms, the videos together cost 12 seconds in Afghanistan, and saved 5 minutes in Afghanistan

How do you prove this statement? What part of this "saves" them money? It's only propaganda BS. A fucking powerpoint presentation could be made for far less than this and be MORE INFORMATIVE.

If you are not able, yourself, to prove the statement then you can't disprove it either yet you make claims as if you had.

They have the old Enterprise bridge set with TNG uniforms, and "Bones" is wearing a yellow uniform instead of blue.

This video is indeed a travesty.

Uhh I did with the very statement you quoted. I can't believe I have to spell it out for you, but if anyone on this forum needs something spelled out for them, its you on a consistent basis.

How much was spent on these video's? $60k

How much for powerpoint presentation?

You would have to be a moron to assume the latter costs anywhere near. I fully expect you to say otherwise though. Go ahead and prove me right moonpie.

Ah crap, let me spell it out for you:

"Two videos were created for the $60,000.

In other terms, the videos together cost 12 seconds in Afghanistan, and saved 5 minutes in Afghanistan."

To which you replied:

So the statement you claim is propaganda which you say they can't prove but you can't disprove is that it saved 1.5 million and that amounts to 12 seconds in of war time etc. Nowhere in the statement you couldn't disprove was there any bull shit about a Power Point presentation, how relatively more effective that would be at making their point, or how much cheaper it would be. That was a bridge you jumped off after you made you, without proof or disproof of any kind regarding the actual statement. So what I did was point that you invented a rebuttal to a statement and presented it with typical arrogant certainty without proving that what you were critical of is true on not. It's just your big fat opinion presented as if you, some kind of unerring God knows everything. In short what I said had nothing at all to do with the relative costs of the video and a power point presentation but I will note that like the God you seem to think you are, you are sure it would be more effective. I'd be interested in that proof too.

404 controversy not found. It's horrible quality, but it's for training. Not just for the hell of it.

I figured everyone makes training videos and most are of questionable quality. They all serve a purpose though. This is just more of the hate on government bandwagon everyone is jumping on. If this is the best people can find then our government is pretty damn well run.

They should have just done a $50 Harlem Shake video instead. Much easier to develop, and the You-tubers would probably like it more.

Way to go moonpie. Way to miss it.....completely. Again. I'm sure this all traces back to self hate right? Oh who am I kidding.

The only person you are kidding is yourself and I doubt from the evasive and non specific answer you opine, you're not doing that very well either. And the only self hate involved here is your inability to see you're a fool. Where's you proof of propaganda. You blow shit out of your ass and that's it.

You'd have to be an ignorant moron not to know. Which just proves my point

Nothing important here, this is a training video, videos like this are common for training and informing employees.

How do you prove this statement? What part of it is rationally defended? It's only propaganda BS. Throwing shit against the wall could be made done with equivalent effort to this this and have been MORE INFORMATIVE.

I think it's pretty hard to argue that the video was a good use of money.

That being said, it's hardly unique. The private sector wastes money on the same kind of nonsense. For some reason, there are mid to upper level managers everywhere who think stuff like this is good for training and morale. I guess it's because they probably have too much time on their hands. We peons just roll our eyes and wait for the torture to end.

There's some information/training you just can't communicate in an entertaining way, no matter how hard you try.

They should have put it on youtube and see how many views they got. They might have been able to pay for the video. Everyone knows the government wastes ass tons of money, this is just a drop in the bucket.

You can make a training video for much less than $60,000
