The smell of the chemicals involved in the production of pulp ... when I drive down the hill towards the mill if there is any sort production going on, you can smell the distinct smell. Occasionally it seeps into my office, but generally our air scrubbers do a pretty good job of filtering it out.

On the way to work I have to drive past the local sewage treatment plant... otherwise known around here as "The Poop Factory". Depending on the weather, it can be pretty horrific.
