Power supply died and of course I have no spare.
Gonna pray Best Buy is open tomorrow cuz I'm pretty sure Walmart does not sell power supplies.
PSA posting on this gosh darn horrific site is awful with a smart phone.

Coronavirus is officially my worst enemy.
After brussel sprouts.

Oh that sucks. I have ordered a couple things off Best Buy so far during these times and they have pretty fast order processing and shipping so you should not be out for more than a week.

If you order it now it'll probably be at your place tomorrow.

A few months ago I drunk ordered a movie at 5 am Sunday morning. When I drug myself out of bed at noon I decided to check and my account said "delivered". Sure enough it was at my front door.

It came at like 11 am later that morning.

I decided to upgrade to a Corsair RM750X with a 10 year warranty. Its been ok so far, but clicks when you turn the power off. The fan does not turn on unless the logic thinks its needed, so this should last 10 years. It was $152 shipped w/tax.

A dead psu is your worst nightmare?

Well, to be fair, it's a much bigger problem than it would normally be.

The other day my internet connection started playing up. I have no TV, I'm told not to go outside except for 'essentials' (and this is likely to go on for months if not a whole year). If my internet connection failed or PC died it would be a major problem. I'm not sure where I'd get a replacement PSU - Amazon are allegedly (according to some sources, anyway) taking weeks for 'non essential' deliveries, and all the physical shops are shut.

Furthermore my ISP makes it very clear they have hardly any customer service staff available at the moment, so good luck with getting any problems sorted if they screw up.

On the upside, I'm saving money due to not buying all the unecessary consumer crap I normally do.

Mine is a Corsair 650M and you better believe I'm getting it repaired. Only had it 3 years.
But I need something today so I ordered two different models both in stock at my local Best Buy.
Doing things on a smartphone is so unbelievably difficult. I have a hard time understanding how millions of people get by with these things.
I guess if all you do is tweet and post shitty vertical movies you wouldn't know any better.

Don't all AT computer parts hoarding members have a stash of old PC builds to cannibalize from?
Not power supplies.
I get high quality units one at a time and use them until they die.
This one died considerably faster than it should have.

I bought a new Seasonic Focus GX-750 last year because I just didn't trust the PSU in my pre-built (IBuyPower) pc I bought from Costco. Still in the box...

My last order from Best Buy went perfectly.
No pick up drama, priced competitively arguably priced best.

I hate to think how many PC's I've had, starting with a 386DX, and while I've had a number of things fail, I have never had a power supply go out on me.

Long time ago (10 years now?) I bought a 750w or so PC Power & Cooling PSU.

These things are fuckin' tanks. It has definitely outlived MANY upgrades I've done. If for whatever reason it does die I'm definitely going with another from PC Power & Cooling

Haven't bought a PSU from them but I've ordered several things from them for in-store pickup and never had any issues. Shouldn't be too bad.

Edit: Our store closed due to issues with their lease. Not sure if/when they're going to open up again.

If anyone asks Best Buy is extremely competent with their curbside sales. Took them less than 30 seconds and there were no problems.

Also, I fucked up. My old PSU was the Corsair TX650W, which is not that great. My new PSU is the 650M. That one has removable cables so you can hook up exactly what you need and none of what you dont. Also it looks like the fan grill is improved so there's no chance it can drag across the fan. That's what killed my old one, fan stopped, thing overheated, theres no warning signs, it died quickly.

Mine was in use for 15 years. Too bad they got bought out.

Fortunately best buy does carry some decent parts these days and price matches newegg and amazon. WEhen my motherboard died I was able to get a decent replacement in less than 30 minutes cheaper than newegg.

Could have been worst, i had a thermaltake TR2 years ago take out a entire system just about when it decided to pop. Good times, i am loving my Seasonic Focus 650w its dead silent and has a eco mode on it that is button activated. That and its modular so cable management is a breeze. :)
