WORST NFL Coach(ing staff)

My vote goes to the Buffalo Bills -- by far and away the most inept, painfully incompentent staff in the league. Mostly just fat Wade, though.

Examples:
-stubbornheaded refusal to play Flutie except when absolutely necessary (i.e. Johnson crumbles to the turf for the 9th time in the game), despite Flutie's inept ability to win games (albeit not always with great stats)
-replaced special teams coach from last year as scapegoat for 'Music City Miracle' with "close personal friend" -- Bills now ranked dead last in almost every special teams category. says he will keep him as coach next year
-acts like a damn cheerleader on the sidelines -- jumps up and down like a girl when they score a field goal, looks like he is going to cry when something goes wrong -- NEVER argues with refs
-Today's game vs. NE -- calls timeout as NE prepares for GW-field goal, allows them time to clear off snow for plant foot. Fails to call TO when they are presented with a similar chance (announcers commented on this also)
-Last week before Indy game - declared that he thought both teams were 'out of playoff race' -- great motivation. Two weeks later, the Colts are very much in the thick of things

Many other examples I could think of, I'm sure, but I think that's enough for now.
Anyone else???

PS - Bills also win the award for 'most senile owner of the year' - gives Wade Phillips a 'vote of confidence' for next year. 🙁

Washington Redskins.....with the wealth of talent they have on that team, there is no way they should be 7-8. Although I will agree with you about Wade Phillips. I don't see how you can justify playing a QB that gets sacked 1 out of every 3 times he drops back to pass.

Another vote for the Bills staff, no doubt that Flutie would have gotten them into the playoffs.

Mike Riley of the San Diego is a contender at 1-14 but the Chargers have had a lot of just plain bad luck in several close games and have made a few personnel mistakes *cough*Ryan Leaf*cough*.

another vote for the bills ... why is d. johnson still starting is beyond me, especially on days like today, when athletic abilities are a crucial part of qb stats.

San Diego; their coach has caused at least the last 2 teams he's coached to fail(Oregon State Beavers, now #6 in the BSC after getting a new coach last year; and now SD). Yet for some odd reason, he's just been given another contract to coach for San Diego.😱

Ryan Leaf this year 8Td/16Int ratio. 4ints in ONE game. The 15 second espn highlights don't come anywhere near describing just how bad his play as been. Coaching wasn't the problem this year, a decent field goal kicker and they would have won at least 5 games imho.

caoches aren't on the field, so you can't just blame them...buffalo is stupid for not playing flutie, but what can you expect the chargers staff do with leaf? he's not as great as he was in college...the quarterback makes a lot of decisions on the field and it was buffalo's job to let flutie do it...but they made him sit on the bench while johnson gets his @$$ kicked...haha

Dooling37, I agree 100%. Wade Phillips is the worst coach I have ever seen. The Bills are my favorite team and it pains me to see Johnson out there game in and game out, playing like sh!t. Eventually, after they have no chance of winning, late in the 4th quarter, he brings Flutie in and what happens? First drive, touchdown!! And then next game, same thing. What a dick-wad.

Ha...glad to see I have some supporters on the Wade thing...at least I'm not the only one who sees what an idiot he is! 😉

I'd also have to agree with Mike Riley being a candidate. Norv Turner certainly isn't anything special either, although to be honest I just don't think they have that great a team...old star players and a very old kicker cost them several games...

Another vote for the bills staff.

Best comedic performance goes to the redskins though. They spent all that money trying to buy a team, and just ended up sucking.

Homer - "they're the suckiest bunch of sucks that ever sucked"

The niners and cowboys accomplished the same idea succesfully earlier in the decade, but the skins messed up bad.

It's better to suck and know it (chargers, browns) than to attempt to be good and blow it.

My vote goes to the Cowboys coaching staff. I've never seen a less-disciplined team on the field in my life. Players being ejected for fighting and unsportsmanlike conduct on more than one occasion this year. Look at the number of unsportsmanlike personal fouls they received yesterday. Coaching is all about management, yet I'm surprised that Campo manages to make it out of bed each morning.

How could we forget the Atlanta Falcons? Talk about a team that has consistently allowed its best players to leave and has steadfastly refused to acquire anyone decent to replace them. Now, rumors are that Ray Buchanan, one of the few pro quality players on the team, will be leaving next year because it's expected that Atlanta won't put up the money for a new contract for him.

Dan Reeves couldn't recruit his ass to fart for him.

Are we talking about this season only. The Jets had this bum named Rich Kotite, and he was horrible. He did nothin in Philly and then the Jets gave him a job. Where do they find these idiots? What happened to Ray Rhodes? He was another loser.
