Great and established bands did not need good videos. Journey was a GREAT and popular band at the time, and before the video era, so they didn't need a special video to get attention.

They need instruments though, air keyboard is never a good look. 😉

Edit: And this

Billy Squier - Rock Me Tonight

This video ruined his career.
Might be one of the few bad videos to have that much effect on someone's career.

When he first hit the scene people called him a one man Led Zeppelin.
Listen to 'In the Dark' and you can certainly hear the Zeppelin influences.

Yeah, that first album was great and I remember seeing the video premier (MTV used to have a set time to premier new videos by existing bands). Not sure how he was convinced to do that in a video.

^ stop ruining all the fun.

Journey did not set out to make a bad video, they just ended up with one. A lot of the early videos were horribly bad because no one knew what to do with this new genre. Almost any video from the last 70s to early 80s were laughably bad.

Another great WTF video Wake me up before you go go - Wham!

It is not that they set out to make a bad video they just did not try to make a great video, because they didn't have to.

That other WTF video is just early gay cinema.

Yeah, a lot of 70s/80s videos were laughably bad, but the Journey one was laughably bad even compared to them. Their previous videos were simple performance clips which were much better.

FGTH-Relax (the orig video) is early gay cinema. The Wham video was just a fun lightweight video for a fun lightweight pop song.

Yes-Leave It is my vote for worst video. I can't find it on YouTube, but it just the band standing in front of a white background.

That song is awful!!!

I don't think it would qualify as 'worst video' because of that fact.

Most of the other worst videos have songs that are good, but videos that are bad.

The obvious exception being anything staring the Hoff.
