As I heard it, the question at the end of CTHD is whether or not she commits suicide. That would be, more or less, a sort of cathartic experience for her.

Now here's the question: since you can't kill yourself by sticking your head in a bucket of water and holding it (not that i've tried :)) can you kill yourself by falling if you know that you can land safely?

Anyway, the suicide idea makes sense as a sort of atonement for what she'd done. Other options are continued running away and wishing to be in the desert.

Yo,
Would be good to see this in a poll format at the top.

Planet of the Apes (2001) gets my vote, of recent films.

I'm really surprised (well, not really with the heated but superfluous LOTR "ending" discussion) that no one mentioned . . .

. . . Lost In Space

That movie had EVERYTHING going for it - good cast and acting, good special effects, a cheesy TV series to take off from with a decent plot, and then - WHAT was that last 10 minutes??? . . . Dr. Smith turned into a spider and they went through the center of the planet to go back just a little in time for no advantage whatsoever other that to horrify and shock the audience.

Disgusting ending . . . one of the worst ever.

"Nightfall" was just the worst ever . . . the ending matched the rest of the garbage (so sad, especially considering the Asimov story of the same name).

I can't remember which early Travolta movie this is...I think Saturday Night Fever...the one where he's the lead dancer in his first "play" or some crap like that. Anyways, at the end the girl asks him what he's going to do now. Travolta replies, "I'm gonna strut!" He then proceeds to do this dumb-a$$ strut as he walks away from the girl. Hilariously bad ending.

LOTR.

they shouldve broken up the movie in 5 parts instead of 3.
way too long.
and they try to make the movie way to dramatic...
that by the end of the movie...
any normal ending would not have done justice...
and they had failed miserably even at producing a normal ending.

the only cool thing about the movie was the way camera moved while following up the tree stairs. very well thought out process. but that's about it.
i give the movie 1.5 stars.

<< Oh my GOD.

The Bone Collector. Thank you for reminding me of that trashy piece of Ass of an ending.

SH!T, just thought of one more:

1. Far and Away
2. The Bone Collector
3. FACE OFF--> My puke muscle was already ready when Gina Gershon got kilt, so I could already see what was going to happen at the end (honest), but I didn't know they were going to do it with such flaming flambouyancy. I haven't watched Face-Off since because of that. And I really liked the rest of the movie.
>>

Just added one more

4. Mission To Mars. The whole movie was stupid really, but the ending ....."they seeded the earth" was a gigantic load of mastadon dung.

<< Monte Python and the Holy Grail. What's up with the ending???????????????? >>

That was absolutely HORRIBLE. I prefer to watch the movie up until just past the bridge scene and then turn it off without exposing myself to that pathetic excuse for an ending.
