Well i had a terrible day yesterday...
**Begin Rant**
Yesterday I get a free firewall, ZoneAlarm, Im happy at this point and everything is working great. I like it and decide to get Pro($39.95) and i d/l pro and am about to install when it says, "Make sure you dont have ZoneAlarm running while you install ZA Pro, so i turn off ZA and Uninstall the free version of ZA. So im thinking this is gonna kick A$$. I install ZA Pro and it says i need to restart my machine, no biggie restarted and it starts on up and goes to the desktop. Then it says, "Please wait while we try to initialize TrueVector service. Cancle?" im like no i dont wanna cancle so i leave it running for a good 30 minutes and decide, well 30 minutes have past and it hasnt finished. Im getting impatient and im wondering if it has frozen. I move my mouse and move the dialog box around, nope not frozen so i hit cancle. 30 minutes down the drain!
So i uninstall ZA Pro and restart and TRY to reinstall ZA Pro once more. Finishes installing and once again tells me i need to restart my computer. So once again i restart.
--Having 1 hour already go by im starting to lose my patients--
Starts up fine and then once again the dialog box comes up and asks me to wait while the "TrueVector" service initializes. I wait a good 15 minutes and i finally say F*** it. I hit cancle and my computer slows way down. Then i get a PC Speaker beeping and im like Ohh great what the F*** is wrong now?!!? so it locks up cold, im gettin pissed after getting pro and the damn thing wont work...:|:|:|
I get so pissed off i remove ZA Pro and ZA all together. Then thinkin i dont wanna get a trojan or some other dumba$$ hacker in my comp i get ZA again from their website ZoneAlarm I install ZA and get an error im missing a file. I do a search and i find the file were it needs to be.
--At this point I have lost it and am ready to destroy the monitor, HD, ect....--
I turn my computer totally off for a good 10 minutes trying to figure out wtf is goin on...
Finally after calming down i restart my computer. I install ZA the free download off of ZA's site and its working great. Im starting to get happier. Then i am thinkin Ill leave ZA installed and ill install ZA Pro over it like a patch or something. Did that, and now it loads right up. Now im laughing because it was that easy, so everything is working at 100% Im happy, i got ZA Pro installed, nothing could go wrong.. I screwed up there, I goto log into my DSL and it comes up fine, no big deal. About to log onto my Homepage-Which is, of course, http://forums.anandtech.com-- and it says page not found. im thinking, ok...lemme try again. Got the same esults and i try going to any other web site...same results. So im thinking that maby its just a bad connection. I get 2 green computers if i have a good connection. Looked and had 2 green computers...Right click and check the network... Yellow mainframe and red connection to network. I was pissed that it shows 2 green computers, yet it has a f***ed up connection to the network... :|:|:|
So I decide to shut my computer down and i left it off for 5 min...restarted. My connection was the same...now im getting pissed at DSL with South Western Bell... I once again restarted my computer. Finally a good connection to the network... I log onto AnandTech and once more, "Page cannot be displayed." yada yada yada...same old story... so i try my AIM account to see if i can log into AIM. Nope same problem, "AIM service could not be reached. Please check your Internet connection."
So.. I am gettin so PO'ed that you could cook an egg on my head. I finally give up at getting on the internet with DSL.
--Keep in mind this is 3 hours into my bad day--
I have been trying to get a good connection for 1 hour and no luck. I am thinking, hey maby its my Firewall... i set it to not start up when the computer restarts, i restart once more.
Computer is restarted and i am logging into DSL, i get connected, log onto my homepage only to find, yes another, Page Cannot Be Displayed.
I give up for the day and am goin to bed, noting its 1:17 in the morning by this time and i have to get up at 5:30 am... am heading to bed and remember one thing... **KICK** ::mumbling:: you p.o.s. computer. p.o.s. modem...p.o.s. DSL ::end mumbling:: i wake up in the morning, about to goto AnandTech and it gives me a BSOD. Musta heard what i said (LOL) and is retaliating. I say, "eh *CLICK* Power strip goes dead*CLICK* Whoops (LOL)." I leave it off all day and get here and turn it on, everything is running great, ZA is giving me alerts that ppl are pinging me and is blocking it, I can log into AnandTech, and i can get on AIM. Im in heaven until, once again another BSOD. Im thinking eh no big deal but for another 3 hours it never logged onto DSL. :| :frown:
