Pretty bad play, but he's just a kid so I wouldn't be too hard on him. If that were an NFL player on the other hand ....

What the youtube vid doesn't show is how they ran the same play right before that, but a timeout was called after the Skins lined up. So what happens after they come back from the timeout? They line up the EXACT SAME WAY and get crushed as you just saw. The element of surprise is 99.9% of the fake field goal.

All I can think is that maybe it was the last play of the game and they needed to score a touchdown to win or something, so he tossed it up as a last ditch effort in hopes that someone else on his team would grab it and keep it going.

Doesn't explain why he ran 60 yards in the wrong way before he did it though.

I love these types of plays. The second one is great because the kid spikes it backwards and immediately knows he fucked up. Then as the film shows the kid scoring you see poor Casey Babcock doing the ultimate two handed face palm.

He was trying to escape those other guys who went totally unblocked. He was trying to run backwards and around them, they all got on him and I'm sure kept trying to push him towards their own side, and there wasn't much he could do about it.

It's not necessarily a bad play, it depends on the situation. Last play, you're down by say 6 points. Horrible feed from the QB and you just try to make something of it. If the other team scores, it wouldn't matter anyway.
