Trump won because of those same attacks burying real issues that could stick.

To swat them down you tripped and fell. By all accounts Trump is a one term guy. A bump in the American road.
Yeah, pointed out at the beginning of his tirade, basically stating that he hopes it's wrong.
It has been stated more than once within this forum that the Trumpisms are actually just a distraction, however, for whatever's going on 'behind the curtain'. That would imply that it's an act, hence decisions/efforts are, in fact, intentional.
So which is it? Bumbling buffoon that coerced/barreled his way in office? Or concentrated effort by a malicious entity made up of a person/persons who wish to further their own gains?
