Lifer
the worst places to be

1. Southeast Florida (Miami-Fort Lauderdale-West Palm Beach)

2. Key West and the Florida keys

3. Southwest Florida (Fort Myers-Naples)

4. West Florida (Tampa-St. Petersburg-Sarasota-Clearwater)

5. Outer Banks islands, NC (Cape Hatteras)

6. Central Texas Gulf coast (Galveston)

7. Central Florida Atlantic coast (Melbourne-Cocoa Beach)

8. Florida Panhandle (Pensacola-Panama City)

9. Central Gulf coast (New Orleans, LA-Biloxi, MS-Mobile, AL)

10. South Texas Gulf coast (Corpus Christi-Brownsville)

funny how i grew up in the heart of southeast florida (17 years) and don't find it particularly dangerous. sure, there's a ton of rain, but nothing tremendously threatening to there.

Number 8 BABY!

Beat ya, I come in at #6 😀
As a note it seems rather strange that in the entire time I have lived here only 1 Hurricane has hit the Gulf Coast here, and it was a very weak one at that.

Uh, I guess that's worst places in the USA... they get some nasty typhoons out in the west pacific don't they?

So how much of the SE coastline isn't included?

once you're north of palm beach, you aren't in southeast florida anymore.

(your answer is "none of it.")

Outerbanks, which itself is almost as much coastline as the SOUTHeastside of Florida.

where i currently am (in new york), there is a severe weather alert as there will be flooding from (the remnants of?) tropical storm cindy. while i don't usually care about such things, they closed down the parkway last week due to minor thunderstorms. it's going to suck to get to and from work tomorrow 🙁
