Watched ~10 minutes of Hackers on my laptop.

Ended up chucking it off the balcony.

I'm pretty sure every member of Anonymous spends their days like this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x3XzPhdBx9g

omg, this is so bad. Two minutes in and I'm done! Kinda interesting how Angelina's voice was so different back then.

Anyone remember Antitrust with Ryan Philleppe, Tim Robbins, Claire Forlani, & Rachael Leigh Cook?

That was a good movie. Very relevant during its time when Microsoft reigned supreme.

Evil Bill Gates hiring thugs to steal code. hahaha I wonder if they got the idea from that Bill Gates Simpsons episode. "Buy em out boys!"

Anyone watch The Net TV Series?

Ok I have the worst "computer" movie. Ok 2 things - 1 it isn't the 90's and 2 it is supposed to be "machines" that are taking over, but a lot are computer based like ATM's and such.

Maximum Overdrive

Strict to computers.... also not 90's but Swordfish. I liked the movie but the virus building was ridiculous.

Maximum Overdrive is not even close to a bad movie.

Hackers is not that bad if you look at it as a campy movie. The Net was just plain bad.

Me neither. I caught a scene or two but never finished it.

Anyone remember Antitrust with Ryan Philleppe, Tim Robbins, Claire Forlani, & Rachael Leigh Cook?

Aside from making it flashy because it's a hollywood movie, they strived to be realistic and technically accurate as possible.

Look at that: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g6LEXXtEHwg

Full movie on youtube. I can't turn it off.

Antitrust was awesome.

I just don't understand how this can be labeled a 'classic'. Everything about it is terrible.

see, that is so ridiculous that it is no more so today than it was back then, making it timeless. it actually manages to capture some of the essence of cyberpunk. if you don't take it so literally then it's actually not a bad movie.

I liked both movies but Hackers is much better. I actually have it DVR'ed and watch it from time to time.

With the 3D fly-by GUI.

It can't get worse than Transformers. These hackers are hot skinny cheerleader girls, their GUI have all these super animated crap on it.

You mean hackers don't actually sit down at a computer showing flying text all over the place, tap the keyboard for 10 seconds, and have the letters turn into an autobot symbol?

Oh also, HACK THE GIBSON!

And The Net might be fun to watch again now just to see them spend 10 minutes to copy a floppy.

While I have had ample opportunity to see Jolie's fun bags (and used those opportunities to full advantage) I feel that it is incumbent on me to now see Hackers.

Also, the plot description in the OP sounds too ridiculous to not be fun.

I liked Sword Fish. Getting head while asked to crack a database now that is how it should be done IMO
