Worrying about router temperature

I turn on my router from 9am to 6pm everyday like that. I touch my router device and adapter and they feel hot after using it for a period of time. Should I turn off my router for a while to let it cool? I'm using TP-W8980.

No, it is designed to run at the temperature it runs at. I mean, if you are locating it in an oven, or covered in a blanket or in an attic that might be an issue.

A typical router uses between 5-15w of power, yes that causes the case to run between warm and hot.

If you're concerned about it, buy a USB powered dual fan notebook/laptop cooler from eBay, place your router on top of it and connect it to the USB connection of the router. The fans generally run so quiet you can't hear it and they do a great job on router like yours.

My old netgear routers I always ran vertical. The underside would get super hot if I layed it down sideways. This led to the wifi freezing up cause it was the wifi card burning up.
