worrisome temperatures!?

Hi all!
I am running an intel d865perl with a 2.4C. I have installed the intel active monitor and every time I played games, temperature on system zone 2 went beyond 50 Centigrade which is the threshold value. So I turned up the threshold value to 60 Centigrade and now, the temperature doesnt go beyond
52-53 C, but am I driving it to the limit? I must add that my room is very hot and that the case is open, an extra fan is mounted on the back of the case just over the keyboard/mouse and usb ports. If it is relevant, I am using a ti 4200 and two sticks of Kingston ddr 333 value ram. So, should I run down the threshold value or is it just fine?
Thanx in advance.

You're fine at those temps. The max temp of the processor is 74C, and my monitor defaulted to like 65C for threshold. I currently max out 55-56C, but I do have a better HSF on order.

I'd say you're just fine. I'm just putting together a D875PBZ + 2.4C rig and am getting temps (using Intel Active Monitor) just like yours while running Prime95 in my 90-95°F room. 51-52°C max. When I run Prime95 in the cool (low 70°F) early mornings Prime95 load temps run 43-44°C.
