Worms Armageddon problems in WinXP

Hi. I'm using WinXP pro (gold cold) and have found it to be quite compatible with games. However, I have a problem in Worms Armageddon. I can only play at 640x480 resolution. If I use 800x600 or 1024x768, the game either crashes when I load it, or fully loads but crashes upon any movement of the mouse. I have tried Detonator 2 and Detonator 4, and I have tried all the compatibility settings, where I can emulate different versions of Windows but to no avail. Any help would be appreciated; thanks!
