wormholes a posibility?

I was reading slashdot and they had a link to a very interesting article about a new discovery. LINK

I am quite interested in these types of things so I started reading around and doing a little thinking. If two black hole cores were to merge could a true wormhole be possible? If the two cores merge this would create something like )=======( with any matter entering the 'event horizon' being instantly transported to the other side. Now I know this theory is quite flawed as nothing can escape a black hole so using this the matter would, essentially, be stuck in the middle because of the two forces. And we also can not forget the fact that any matter entering would be instantly deep-fried as it heats up because of the pull. Still an interesting thing though. I know we have some smart thinkers out here what are some of your opinions on the possible existance of a wormhole and if there was such a thing how do you think it would be created/work?

You answered your question by the statement about two black holes making a wormhole with your statement "essentially, be stuck in the middle". However, just contemplating this for a few moments I have come up with some ideas. Many must be flawed because my knowledge of Physics let alone astro-physics is quite limited. However, here goes!

I'm sure you are familiar with the theory that a quark is the exit or exhaust of a black hole. Well, lets take into consideration your theory. Two black holes that meet. If they don't swallow each other up or one overpowers the other, where would everything go? Matter is neither created nor destroyed, right? The resulting force and energy made by the collision of all this matter at the point of connection would quite possibly be sufficient to cause a rift in the universe. (here is my limited knowledge. How much energy is necessary to create a rift, can they even exist, would this situation be too much energy?) Supposing you could survive the pull and "impact" of a black hole would this in fact transport you through time, space or thrust you into "sliders", or even big bang? I believe opening a "wormhole" would require opening "space".

I think Chaos would play a major roll in anything Black hole or wormhole. I can not see the end result of a "black hole" being very stable. Too much matter and energy involved. Therefore, how long would two black holes remain connected if they managed to connect at all?

Thinking a little more on wormholes I think creating one is outside our capability. Yes John Criton managed to make one quite by accident but what is a worm hole? Basically a freeway from one end of the universe to another. I think this would be more of a naturally occurring phenomenon and is available out there. I've heard about the space being folder in on itself theory but instead of one single point wouldn't that be more of a wall? How about a tunnel of less physics, for lack of a better word. This area would actually allow for the breakdown of natural physics. In order to "rocket" matter light-years away whatever this is, it can not hold to the physics known today.

With more thinking on the subject I feel I need a drink to get any further. Plus, I have to get back to work on my time machine. I need one more vacuum tube and I'll be done! Then I will Post the answer after I travel to a time when we have all the answers. Here's another topic for you. Quantum mechanics!

htey just re ran the NOVA episode on worm holes... very interesting to watch.. i dind't know what the hell htey were talking about but after watching it i felt smarter
