Recently we first saw uprisings in multiple countries against similar authoritarian governments during the Arab Spring. The list has grown. We assumed the people wanted to replace these governments with evolved, peaceful and democratic ones. Some do, but obviously many want something else, and they're well armed.

We saw what overturning one of these secular governments in Iraq did. Middle East countries' lines were drawn to include disparate groups with animosity that dates back for centuries. In more modern, secular societies in the region there were long periods of peaceful mixing of groups. Without strongmen in control, it seems like all hell has broken loose, and the uprisings movement may only create more enemies of the West.

But now there are uprisings in Thailand, Ukraine and all over Africa, and tensions are running high in Venezuela and other places. There are even militant Christians getting in on the xenophobia and racism. Ethnic cleansing sounds so evil, yet that's what much of this is.

So my question is, where are we going? Are we all just going to disagree/feel superior enough to want to fight about it? Sometimes it seems like humanity is becoming less sophisticated and is falling back on its animal instincts (being territorial, fear of differences...). It also seems like there are just too many of us with our emotional, reactive minds.

How long do you think it will take until relative stability (like in the '90's) is seen globally again? Will we ever?

Combined with problems of pollution, warming, access to water, overpopulation, poverty, crime etc., do you think that this world will ever be close to what we had hoped?
