Worlds smallest ATX PS........

What is it used for? Running a uATX system off an ATX system rather than its own external PSU? I don't get it.

It can be used for really small computers or other custom form factors where a typical switching power supply would be too large. Additionally, it's powered by 12V so it can easily be used in a car. The advantage of being powered by 12V for home purposes is that the AC-DC converter is external (which you have to obtain separately), freeing up space inside the computer.

for a carputer, it won't matter, I'll have windows stripped down to the skinny, and be using a fast 2GB TwinMos which is definately not slow.

Slow compared to a desktop drive? Yes, certainly.

But you aren't going to be running BF2 off this are you. 😀

Looks sweet, but probably wouldn't do for a carputer. It doesn't regulate the 12V line - it's just a direct connection (albeit via a switch). So it requires a regulated 12V supply.

No problem for a small desktop machine though.

Should work. Here's power consumption ratings for the different Core Duo models (from wikipedia):

>= 50 W Core Duo E -- For Large Multimedia and Gaming Notebooks
24 - 50 W Core Duo T -- For Mainstream Consumer Notebooks
15 - 23 W Core Duo L -- For Ultra-Portable Notebooks and Some Smaller Thin and Light Clients < 6 lbs.
< 5.5 W Core Solo U -- For ultra-thin ULV Notebooks, PDA, and other Multimedia Devices.
