World's most extreme car for sale on eBay

Sweet Jesus, this thing is insane on a whole new level - link to the auction

Found this on Autoblog:

You know how when you were a kid, and you used to doodle wild wheeled creations in your notebooks instead of listening to your teachers? Remember how you thought about how great it would be if you had a "real" version of what you were drawing. If we had to guess, Jeremy Dixon, the owner of this awesome black machine, was one of those kids way back when, only he went ahead ahead and built the dream machine he onceup.

This open-wheel monster (we'll call it the Dixon Big Block for the sake of the post) seats two behind a windshield made from a Mazda RX-7's backlight, is powered by a mid-mounted big block Chevy, puts out close to 1000 horsepower, is apparently street legal (in Florida, at least), and reportedly attracts a wee bit of attention when it's out and about. And though it is listed on eBay, Jeremy is very upfront about this: he'll only sell to someone who will care for it as well as he has, can properly maintain it, and who'll treat it with the respect it commands.

Hell, Jeremy, maybe you should reconsider. Keep the car. Auction off rides in it instead.

I don't know how this can be street-legal, but if it is, it might be the most extreme road car I have ever heard of. It should be capable of humbling just about anything short of a funny car in a straight line.

Veyron please.

This thing is certainly no substitute, but I still have to admire the kind of hardcore deviancy that would inspire him to create it. I notice that on his own webpage he seems to regard the Zonda as the ultimate road car, and in some ways I think they share a certain renegade spirit that the Veyron lacks.

I'm looking at that exhaust pipe. Is it pointed directly at the rear tire????

as long as it doesn't spit out flames, its all good!

I guess the idea is if it does the tire will hopefully be turning and it will heat it evently on all sides instead of one place only. But that dosen't make any sense because that one tire will become larger due to expansion then all other 3 tires and make the car off balance.

One thing I found odd from his description is that it has no clutch, whatever gear you put it in it stays in😕 That doesn't seem very useful

I gather it's some kind of sequential gearbox - it does sound odd (though far from being the only very odd thing about this beast).

No its has a TH-400, auto trans. That is a 3 speed chevy trans from back in the day. he has it set up so if you put it in 1st it will nto shift to 2nd and so on.

Also it does look like it has most if not all things needed to make it street legal. Seat belt, heatlights, turn signals, etc... Limited run cars (kit cars and such) usually don't have to meet federal standards, only state.

That car is wicked!

I bet the three speed severely limits the top speed, though - I'd guess the aerodynamics do also.

Wouldn't want to hit a wall driving that thing, nothing in front of you but the steering wheel.

haha, I'm sure the veyron would smoke this left and right, but it must be awesome for the guy to be able to drive around in this crazy vehicle knowing that he built it himself.

Well, I'm looking at that motor it's got and I'm not seeing any supercharger, nor do I see any turbos. I'm not so sure it's possible to hit 1000hp with a naturally aspirated engine. I thought once you got to around 700-800 you were pretty much hitting the limits of your big block 8 cylinder engines. With nitrous or a blower of some type I think you could hit 1000, but I don't think that's realistic otherwise. Unless he's running methanol or something maybe? But on pump gas? I dunno.
Even if it does have 1000hp, I think it would just sit there and spin the tires like mad. Granted the engine is sitting mid car which would help keep weight over the wheels, it's still nothing but a bare chassis back there with that massive wing. I think from a stand still the Veyron would smoke this thing. Maybe in a race from 30-80 this thing could take it, but otherwise it's just not gonna be able to get the traction to get the job done.
That said, it does look pretty damn cool for something someone built themselves! I mean I've seen kit cars that people have built and yeah they're cool, but it's basically all been engineered for you. Like putting together a model. All the parts are made to fit together. This guy built this thing on his own using parts from whatever he could get his hands on. Pretty sick!

1000 HP out of a big block easy with 13:1 compression. You don't need boost when you have 572 cubic inches at 13:1 CR sucking the atmosphere dry of oxygen with every intake stroke.

I'm gonna have go check it out just for giggles, thats here where I live!!
