The thing is, we aren't using vacuum tube desktops computers anymore. We made a jump to silicon and that's what allowed us to get here. We won't have that kind of power in our home cpus without another jump...

<< Here is a thought: Think back to the Eniac like 55 years ago. It was huge and very slow compared to today's standards. Now think how small computers are now and how much faster they are then the Eniac which at the time was very fast. How many years away do you think we are until we have this kind of power in desktop size systems? >>

My guess? 15-20 years. And whatever processor/s it uses will be unlike what we have now. Quantum/DNA who knows? Now the question I have if my estimate is true, what kind will pass for supercomputers then?

Quantum computing anyone? That is the next big jump.

<< I wonder what kind of a 3dMark it has.

;)

a crappy one, cause 3dmark scores depend heavily on the type of video card you use. however, it would have excellent sandra scores though.
