The thing is, we aren't using vacuum tube desktops computers anymore. We made a jump to silicon and that's what allowed us to get here. We won't have that kind of power in our home cpus without another jump...

OK. Now I understand. The 12.3 TeraFLOPS/s is peak performance, while the 7.23 TeraFLOPS/s is sustained performance. I feel dumb.

My guess? 15-20 years. And whatever processor/s it uses will be unlike what we have now. Quantum/DNA who knows? Now the question I have if my estimate is true, what kind will pass for supercomputers then?

a crappy one, cause 3dmark scores depend heavily on the type of video card you use. however, it would have excellent sandra scores though.
