World's Fastest consumer SSD on SATA II !@#$?

Hi,
I just got this delivered yesterday:

I installed Windows Technical preview (Windows 10) on it yesterday on non AHCI mode.

Getting less than half speeds on the SSD. It is touted to be 550 MB/s. Is SATA II limiting it or IDE mode in the BIOS?

Honestly I was expecting a bit more performance even on SATA II.

Shall I install Windows 10 again in AHCI mode?

To properly use a SSD you do need to be in AHCI mode.

I had to move my samsung 750gb evo backup drive from one of my sata 3 ports [only have 2] to sata II to make room for the second 840 pro 256 [R0] for more space.
then testing my 120gb backup image before and after it was almost double the 5 mins vs 9ish.
 
What a waste of ssd. You should have gone with something cheaper or bigger (like mx100 or evo) since you clearly cant take advantage of 850pro speeds.
 
Good to know. Will have sata III on next upgrade next year whenever skylake rolls out mid range chips. As of now its a damn good upgrade from my previous hdd OS drive:

I dig more warrantee. This one comes with 10 years peace! I got nothing installed apart from windows and some media players like xbmc. 128GB is more than enough 🙂 I'm not gaming anymore.

try ATTO disk benchmark the webste asks for your email and they send it to you Via email or just torrent it or something. It will give you a better read out of you read/write speeds. And btw. I just bought 4 samsung 850 pro's and they are designed for sata 3 anything lower than sata III is just wasting the drive speed. A regular HDD runs about the same speed as SATA II max speed. You wouid have been better off getting a 4 or a 6 TB hybrid drive only having SATA II. For the money you pry spent on that you could have gotten a lot more space because of your performance limitations.

I also like the warranty Rock... I have 4 Samsung 850 pro 256gb. Im also trying to work out a few bugs... (check my other posts)

Not so much... your drive dies, you get a refurb in return.... well, at least I (and some others here) did when my not-even-1yr old 840Pro died. And, I'm sure you know this... a warranty doesn't protect your data. Just saying.
 
True. All my critical data (which is not huge) is stored on google photos. I don't care about the stuff I have on hdds. I know its all "temporary" Got this drive for "SSD itch" and performance.
