I spent most of my career building bridges. None quite so innovative as that however. The company I worked a lot for, built the P.E.I. bridge in the 90's...among several others. I was supposed to be on the S.F./Oakland Bay bridge in 2004, but got hurt before I could go. That center span is supposed to be hella cool too, IF Ah-Nold doesn't force them into building some concrete plain-jane monstrosity...

I have to pay $40 to cross it though :(

:Q I like that one. Why do you have to pay to cross it?

The bridge is owned by a private company. I live on an Island, and the bridge is one of the only methods to get off it (unless you fly). You can take a boat, but it's the same price and takes 3x as long

What's the point of that bridge? Too practical to just pave a road down one hill and back up the other?

QFT

If they had just paved down one side, up the other, it would have been cheaper and they could have added more lanes. That would have decreased there traffic problem! plus saved a crapload of money

What traffic problem? There are almost no cars on that road.

Designed by French bridge engineer Michel Virlogeux in collaboration with British architect Norman Foster, the bridge is a cable-stayed road bridge that spans the valley of the River Tarn, saving the town of Millau from the massive congestion it used to suffer especially during holiday seasons.
