World War Two in Colour

Googer

I could spend hours here looking at things I had never seen before.

D-Day photograhs.

If you apreciate this site and/or the fact you saw it here first, then please bump this thread so others can have the opportunity to learn and discover WWII just like you have.

Thank you and I hope to see the majority of us ATOT'ers with US flags above our names.

Pretty cool, I've always been interested in seeing what conditions are *really* like in communist countries, since people like us generally don't get to see them. Hell, sometimes it's hard just finding an unbiased source for a description I can believe pictures at least, but some of the captions are a little off-key...

Colorized or real color pictures?

Read the home page?

For so many years, historians and casual observers alike have observed the events of World War II through faded black and white images. What most people do not know is the fact that quite a large portion of the WWII was shot using color film! However, it wasn't until recently that a lot of the photographs and motion picture footage was de-classified by the U.S. Government. We don't just have a collection of U.S. images, but we also have a diverse collection of German, Russian, Japanese, British and Italian photos. View our picture gallery to see them!

Real Colour. There is also some colour motion picture footage out there of some of the action. A large portion of the pictures are scanned Positives from the film it's self, that is why they look so good. The old faded photographs are most likely faded prints whos negative is lost.

Discovery had a few neat specials from World War 1 and World War 2 both in color. Interesting stuff.

I saw them on the History Channel.

IIRC the WWI footage was just colorized, but the WWII footage was actual color recordings.
