There are only 3 surviving WWI veterans in Canada.

One just celebrated his 105th birthday. :Q

Its so sad that soon there will be none left to share thier stories of the joys and horrors of the Great War.

Yes they are getting scarce, and so are WWII vets for that matter. My dad is one of the youngest WWII vets and he just turned 80
 
It is amazing to think back when these guys fought and the amazing technology leap they have witnessed through their lives.

Then he'd have been 17 when the war ended, right? Canada let people into the military that young?

Canada didn't LET people in that young...

A lot of Canadians at the time lied about their age to be able to get into the military...

I'm sure the Americans and everyone else did as well...

This is true.

Patriotism was very important back then. Young men would lie because they wanted to serve thier country as an honour. Boys as young as 14 were fighting.

Yep, very common in WWI, less common in WWII but it still happened quite a bit
