World Series Teams Set . . .

Now that the White Sox and the Astros are the survivors / League Champions,
what is your take on the Umpire Crews and how they may have influenced the games ?

Myself - I think that it was the worst job I can remember for both the poor play calls &
lack of attentiveness by an officiating crew in memory.

Inconsistant strike zone by the Plate Umpire - each team had a different size area to defend when batting.
Umpires not paying enough attention to details when asked for an appeal from another Ump - didn't see it, or a snap judgement with not basis.

Bad for the Cardinal series, but their 'SuperStars' failed to produce all through the set.
Too many heros trying to hit '6 Run Homers' with no runners on base,
a lack of personal disipline by their vetran players.

The Angels' series was even worse - even though the White Sox had some great pitching going,
there were calls against the Angels that were dead wrong.

Umpirewise - the play should be reviewed by the league, and these particular officials should not be allowed to work a play-off series again.
Their egos got to be even bigger than the teams Heros, or even mine.

The job done by the officiating crew in both championship series was pretty substandard, but there were also a lot of tough calls.

If I were the Cardinals, I would have been absolutely beside myself on the horrible job done in game 4. La Russa was a little bit premature on his timing, but Edmunds had a legitimate argument and didn't deserve to be ejected.

Then again, I'm an Astros fan, so I'm happy with the outcome either way!

Or in Game 6 when Molina was called out even though the tag never touched him. Instead of bases loaded with 0 outs, it was corners on with 1 out. Big difference in how you play the game.

That was such a tough call, because the ump really didn't have the correct point of view. It was obvious from the replays that Molina was safe - unless he ran out of the basepath - but he cut off the view between Everett's tag attempt and the ump. Everett sold his POV real well.

They screwed the Yankee's quite a bit with crap calls. Outside of that, since the yankees didn't advance I could care less how bad the umps screw up.

I completely disagree that each team had to contend with a different strike zone. The umpiring was pretty piss poor other than that though.

True, true. Players that blame a loss on poor officiating are just making bad excuses. The Cardinals could have gotten probably 1 extra run, which still wouldn't have been enough.
